St. Cecilia Student Service Project "Give Thanks and Give Back"

St. Cecilia and The Furniture Project Omaha are partnering up again this year to collect bedding. The Furniture Project is helping to resettle many refugees from Afghanistan, and so there is a great need for new bedding, pillows, and towels. Brand new (not used) bed-in-a-bag sets work best. Please see the Amazon Wish List for items to purchase. You can also send in cash donations. Please send cash donations to the attention of Mrs. Koehn.

Holiday Evergreens and Poinsettia Fundraiser - Oct. 5 - 27

The Activities Booster Club (ABC) has kicked off the Holiday Evergreens and Poinsettia Fundraiser for the holiday season. We would appreciate it if you would please take a minute to look over the attached flyer and consider placing an order. We are hopeful the selection of beautiful greenery will encourage you to support our fundraising efforts. Proceeds from the sale will support Student and Faculty Activities at St. Cecilia Cathedral Grade School.

Our sale kicks off on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, and the last day that we can accept orders will be Wednesday, October 27, 2021. All student order forms with payments need to be returned to your child’s classroom once complete. Teachers will have additional order forms if needed.

For parishioner orders, please make a list of your items using the flyer in the bulletin. Also provide your email address and phone number and drop that and a check/cash off to the rectory in an envelope labeled ABC Holiday Fundraiser. Contact Erin Hagedorn at erinstoffel23@gmail.com with any questions.

Once the final order is placed and the Holiday Evergreens and Poinsettias arrive, we will have pick-up before Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 2:30-5:30 pm, in the gym lobby and garage between the gym and soccer field. Make sure to provide an email address and phone number on your order form so we can contact you if the items arrive sooner than expected.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of the Activities Booster Club!

Sycamore Education: All You Need to Know!

  • Log in to my family's Sycamore account: Please watch this short tutorialfrom me with how to log in to Sycamore. If you do not know the web address OR your log in information, please let our Director of Technology, Kelly Hickey, know (khickey@stcecilia.net). *Side note - by the time I realized the camera was backwards, it was too late to start over so please ignore that part of the video!

  • Check my family’s lunch balance: Although all students currently qualify for the free lunch program, this does not apply to extras. For example, if your child orders an A+1 (an extra slice of pizza), they are charged $1.10 for that extra. Another example would be if your child brings a cold lunch but orders a milk, this is an extra $0.35. Please keep your child’s lunch account in the positive to avoid any possible issues with no lunch availability. Please continue to watch the tutorial above for how to find your lunch balance through Sycamore.

  • View and discuss my child’s progress report with them after school.

    • On Sept. 21st, your child will be bringing home a progress report sheet from their teacher. The focus of the first 20+ days of school has been on expectations, the 3 B’s (Be Responsible, Be Respectful, Be Safe), and just getting into the routine of school. Research shows that if you spend the first weeks of school on these items, you have more time for academics later in the year (and less time on redirecting behavior). With our social-emotional learning (SEL) program, this has been our main focus.

    • If your child has some S’s or N’s for their behaviors, that’s ok. Please do not expect perfection from them right now by seeing all E’s on the attributes. Progress reports are a great way to get feedback on their behavior so you can work on improving and getting better.

    • If your child has some missing assignments, that’s ok. If your child has some assignments that they struggle with, that’s ok. We do not expect 100% all the time, all day, every day. Sure you can have high expectations but build in room for slips and struggles. As adults, we slip and struggle too.

    • There may not be a lot of assignments in the grade book at this point. So keep that in mind when looking at their grades. There is a lot of time between now and October 21 (the end of Quarter 1).
